What are Meta Tags and How are They Helpful for any Event's Social Presence?

Before getting started, firstly we should be well aware of some basic terms such as SEO, Meta Title etc.

What is SEO ?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It refers to the process of optimizing a website or webpage to improve its visibility and ranking on search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. The goal of SEO is to increase the quantity and quality of traffic to a website by improving its ranking in the organic search results. 


SEO is crucial for event promotion as it helps to improve the visibility and discoverability of an event website or page on search engines. By optimizing event content and website for SEO, event organizers can increase the likelihood of potential attendees finding and engaging with their event.

What is a Meta Title ?

A meta title, also known as a title tag, is an HTML element that specifies the title of a webpage. It appears in the head section of the webpage and is displayed as the clickable headline in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) and in the browser's title bar when the page is opened.

The meta title plays a crucial role in SEO as it is one of the most important on-page factors that search engines use to determine the relevance and subject matter of a webpage. 

What is Meta Description ?

A meta description is a short summary, up to 155 characters, that provides information about the content of a webpage. It is a tag in HTML that search engines use to display a brief description of the page in their search results. 


The meta description plays a critical role in on-page SEO as it can influence whether a user clicks through to the page or not. Search engines typically show the meta description when the searched-for keyword or phrase is present in the description. Therefore, optimizing the meta description is crucial for improving the page's visibility and click-through rate in search engine results.

When you share a web link on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or WhatsApp, a preview picture appears to give viewers an idea of what the website is about. To add this feature to your website, you can click on the plus icon and save it. This will make your event page easier for search engines to find and show to people searching for related topics. Where you’ll Find Meta Tag ?

In the DC Mixhub backend, there is a section called "basic details' ' where you can find a meta tag. This tag allows you to add the event's title and description. When you share the event's link, the meta tag will automatically generate a title, description, and images that will be displayed on the source.
